Capitol Park Sombor on Track to Open

June 09, 2017, 10:03 (PX Newswire)

Poseidon Group Corporate Affairs Director James Gunn together with the Mayor of Sombor Dušanka Golubović and her associates visited the construction site where works on Capitol Park Sombor, the city’s first retail park, are well underway.

“This is the first project of its kind for which we have been waiting a long time. The first phase of the project will be completed in September 2017, followed by a second phase of development in 2018. This is a very significant investment in our municipality with the abandoned industrial site transformed into a modern retail facility. This project will also provide approximately 150 employment opportunities. Therefore, we hope that Sombor residents will enjoy all aspects of this new facility and its benefits,” Mayor Dušanka

Golubović commented while thanking the investor for selecting Sombor for their investment.

James Gunn thanked the Mayor and her associates for a warm welcome and confirmed the opening of Capitol Park Sombor in late September 2017.

“This EUR 10 million, 3,300 sqm project will be the first retail park in Sombor. The park consists of three separate buildings, one of which is a Lidl hypermarket, scheduled to open in March 2018. The total area of the retail park and hypermarket is 5,800 sqm,” Gunn stated.

According to the investor, the park will offer the products and services of 10 leading local and foreign brands, including Deichmann, Takko, DM, C&A and Top Shop among others.

“Capitol Park Sombor will serve the 86,000 residents of the municipality and surrounding Vojvodina towns to reach more than 100,000 residents in total. It will generate significant work in the supply chain producing the goods and services that will be distributed through the 10 stores. This will significantly contribute to local businesses, companies and people employed in this part of Serbia,” Gunn said.

Poseidon Group has operated in SE Europe for over a decade and continued investments made in Serbia demonstrate its confidence in the country’s future economic growth and prosperity.
